Quantum capacity of additive Gaussian quantum channel

For a quantum channel with additive Gaussian quantum noise, at the large input energy side, we prove that the one shot capacity is achieved by the thermal noise state for all Gaussian state inputs, it is also true for non-Gaussian input in the sense of first order perturbation. For a general case of n copies input, we show that up to first order perturbation, any non-Gaussian perturbation to th...

Zero-Error Capacity of a Quantum Channel

The zero-error capacity of a discrete classical channel was first defined by Shannon as the least upper bound of rates for which one transmits information with zero probability of error [C. Shannon, IRE Trans. Inform. Theory, IT-2(3):8–19, 1956]. Here, we define the quantum zero-error capacity, a new kind of classical capacity of a noisy quantum channel C represented by a trace-preserving map (...

Classical information capacity of a quantum channel.

We consider the transmission of classical information over a quantum channel. The channel is deened by an \alphabet" of quantum states, e.g. certain photon polarizations, together with a speciied set of probabilities with which these states must be sent. The Levitin-Kholevo theorem implies that the amount of information transmitted per \letter" cannot be greater than the von Neumann entropy H o...

Capacity of a memoryless quantum communication channel

We introduce a proper framework of coding problems for a quantum memoryless channel and derive an asymptotic formula for the channel capacity, based upon the philosophy that any information theory shall be constructed in terms of observable quantities. Some general lower and upper bounds for the quantum channel capacity are also derived.

Results on Quantum Channel Capacity

It is shown that no source encoding is needed in the definition of the capacity of a quantum channel for transmitting entanglement. This capacity bounds the “protected subspace” capacity. We find the capacity of the quantum erasure channel using these results, without relying on an unproven assumption as in an earlier paper. Typeset using REVTEX 1
